Handcrafted Pipes
How it started Vs How its going.
Each pipe I make is handcrafted using only top-quality materials. Unless otherwise specified, all of my pipes are made from premium briarwood. I work with briar cut by Mimo in Italy, as well as a fine stock of Greek briar that has been aging since 1996.
The stems are formed from high-grade German SEM ebonite, though I also use Italian vulcanite pre-formed stems on occasion. I carefully thin each bit to between 4.5mm and 5mm, with a wide, smooth button opening that easily accommodates a fluffy pipe cleaner.
Some shanks are accented with Italian acrylic or naturally shed deer antler, adding a unique character to each piece.
The tobacco chamber is precision-cut with a 19mm straight-wall to parabolic taper nose and drilled with a perfectly centered 5/32" draft hole for an ideal draw.
Select pipes are oil-cured, a process I learned directly from Lee von Erck. This traditional method—also used by Dunhill in the 1940s—accelerates the drying of the wood and permanently alters its chemical properties.
The result is a pipe with no break-in period that smokes like a well-seasoned piece from the very first light. Oil curing also strengthens the briar, helping it resist warping, cracking, and the effects of changing weather.
